The bounty hunter let out a deep relaxed breath as he sat on the pier, lids drooping over his exhausted eyes. Looking at him it would be easy to assume he was on the verge of passing out, likely falling into the drink in the process. Alas, his body didn't sway or struggle to stay upright. He sat perfectly still, chest slowly heaving each effortless breath. In a world of strife and chaos, it was nice, no wonderful that he could still find a moment of peace to enjoy a nice relaxing time fishing. It made him feel at home, despite the hustle and bustle surrounding him. Fishing at home was usually so quiet and serene, and somehow he had managed to capture that even in this hectic environment. It was absolutely lovely.
Feeling a bite on his hook Yoizuki's eyes snapped open, grip tightening on his rod. His wrist dislocated and turned thumb and index finger pinching the reel's grip. His hand then began spinning very quickly, mimicking the movements of a propeller. The fish stood no chance against this technique, the line being reeled in at unnatural speeds. Almost as soon as the fish was hooked on the line it was dangling in the air in front of it's pursuer. Smile grew as the fisherman tilted his head, examining his catch for a moment. "So many new fish..." He had never fished outside of his home ocean. It was fascinating to see all these new fish in the world.
Putting a dull hook through the fish's gills after removing it from the line, he dropped it back into the water. It's fall was guided by a line attached to the hook, tethering the fish to the pier while keeping it fresh and alive in the water for the time being. Nodding to himself in satisfaction, Yoizuki prepared to cast out another line. Holding the long fishing rod over his head he would pull it as far back as he could before quickly yanking it forward and releasing the line, causing it to sail far out into the sea. At least that's what should happen. Instead he felt an unusual amount of resistance, like there was something heavy on the hook. But he knows he took the fish off the line already so...
"Oh dear!" Eyes went wide in terror head dislocating from his neck and rotating 180 degrees, effectively turning to look behind him. He was terrified to see who or what he had accidentally hooked. He could only hope they wouldn't be too angry with him. "Oh dear! Oh dear I'm so SO sorry. I-I didn't mean to. I was distracted! I wasn't thinking! I love fish! I'm so sorry." Was he going to die?

It was such a nice day to be out an about. More books to read, More people to chase, more inspiration for ways to kill people. As of today she had developed twenty. Kari strolled along the pier with a song in her head and a skip in her step. The sun was nice out so the beauty was wearing an outfit to take full advantage of it. Her chest was covered by a short tube top that exposed 90% of her abdomen. Her feet were 'protected' by a pair of black sandals with a heel strap on them so they wouldn't fall off if she had to run. To complete the look was a black short pleated skirt. Under them were a pair of exercise shorts. She did have a habit of pouncing on her prey so no free looks.
At the end of this pier was her ship, The Fallen Cherub. A cute name for her and a little bit of evil. Right now it was docked so she could take the day off and relax. Manning the vessel by yourself was hard work, but she managed to sail the Jamaica Sloop from her home in Shimotsuki Village all by herself. Running between helm and the sails was the major work out. She was just glad the seas were calm the past few days so she didn't have to run as much. She needed to find a crew soon. It is supposed to take 4 to pilot the ship at it's maximum potential, she was three shy.
As she walked behind some fisher on the dock she felt a tug at her skirt. He was too far away to just reach up for a peek. Was it some kid? Then there was another tug, a little stronger this time. Looking down, her eyes saw her skirt pointing to the fisher. His hook was caught in her skirt. Turning around she walked around and stood right behind him, fist slamming into her open palm as she stared angrily down to him. He spit out his excuse. With her blonde twin tails flowing in the breeze behind her, she locked eyes with him and seethed with her inherent evil. "You love fish? If that hook isn't removed from my skirt in five seconds or there is a hole left by it, you will be sleeping with them."

Eyes widened as he saw just who he hooked and what part of his body he snagged. Her skirt? Oh this poor girl! And she must have thought the worst of him! Torso rotated one hundred eighty degrees, now facing the same direction as his head while his legs still pointed towards to ocean. "I-I'm so sorry, miss! I swear it was an accident. I forgot to check behind me and just...Please don't hurt me! I-i'll take care of it just uh..." ]Honestly he was hesitant to touch the girl's skirt. It was so inappropriate! But it was the only way to right his terrible terrible wrong. He could only hope he didn't damage it too much. Long fingers slowly moved up to where the hook met the cloth, nervous eyes glancing between her face and the hook. Hands were shaking violently at this point, anxiety and discomfort coming together to put him on the verge of a panic attack. Hands struggled and fumbled to remove the hook from the cloth without tearing it any further. At the same time he was careful not to lift the skirt too much so as to reveal anything. And he also had to make sure his hands didn't brush up against any skin. Oh what a delicate balance!
After a moment of fumbling and muttering he finally removed the hook from the cloth, the damage to the skirt being minimal. "I am sorry. I promise you it was an accident. I wold never do this on purpose, you know. I-I mean my daughter is about your age now. I think. It's been so long. She would be...twenty, I think? Either way, I'm not like that, you know." He didn't dare look at her as he spoke, instead looking down at the hook in his hands. They calmed down considerably now that it was removed from the girl's poor skirt. Still, words were cheap. He had to make this up to her. "L-let me make this up to you."
Torso rotated once more, turning the rest of his body to face forward like a normal human. Pulling at the line that lead into the water, he lifted out a long line of various fish, each of them flailing wildly as they were removed from their ocean home. "Oh my. How long have I been at this...?" There was far more fish on the line than he expected. Should make for a fine meal though. Nevertheless he continued speaking to her, albeit with his eyes still locked on to his fish. "Let me make you a nice meal! I'm a very good cook. Or at least I've been told. Maybe they were being nice. S-still! Let me make this up to you. Do you live on the island? Do you have a kitchen I could use maybe? If you do I will make you the best meal I can!" Not only did he want to make things up to her, but he was also excited to try his hand with all these new fish. He couldn't wait to taste the variety of new flavors these fish could provide. It was enough to send chills down his spine.

Kari waited there as he fumbled with her skirt, trying to free the skirt from the hook. She noticed how his body turned unnaturally. A slight smirk of evil entered her mind as he finally wrested the hook from her garment. He turned back around and offered to make it up to her by cooking some fish. She looked over and saw the small school on his line. The smirk turned into a smile as she squatted down next to him, looking to him as she searched her brains for the right way to say what she was thinking. Then he just gave it to her. "A Kitchen, yeah I got one. It's on my ship at the end of the Dock. The small one with wings, devil tail, halo and horns on the side. There is a galley in the hold and to the back."
Standing back up, she hopped up onto one of the post on the side of the dock and stood completely right up, arms stretched to the side to help her keep balance. "Why don't you head on to it first. I'll catch up to you in a bit after I cool down some."

He jumped slightly as he saw her squat down next to him out of the corner of his eye. She wasn't going to push him into the water, was she? Surely she couldn't have been that angry with him! Instead her words came as a comfort to him, shoulders relaxing as she accepted his offer. "An...an interesting ship. Shouldn't be hard to miss, I'd think." He nodded quickly as he lowered the fish back into the water, hands moving to his fishing pole as he spoke. "Oh and don't worry about spices or anything like that. No, no I actually carry some basic spices and seasonings with me. Just in case. Sometimes the pubs and taverns and inns let me use their facilities to prepare meals for myself. And others when I have company. I very much enjoy company, you know. All sorts. Oh this is very exciting..." He smiled to himself as he rambled, hands moving nimbly as he dismantled the rod and fit it neatly into it's case. The case was then set into the pack by it's side, sliding neatly into it's designated place. He then pulled the line back out of the water and slung it over his shoulder, droplets of seawater falling from the line and onto his white t-shirt. The fish flopped wildly as they dangled, though he didn't seem to pay much mind to it.
"Ah! Yes please take your time. Cool off. I'm sorry if I bothered you with this whole situation. Hopefully my food will meet your standards and make up for this whole situation. D-don't worry though I won't make myself too comfortable. I'll just make my way straight to the kitchen and get to work. Keep my head down. Won't touch anything I don't need to." He nodded quickly to her, an excited smile contrasting his baggy tired eyes. Snatching up his pack he rose to his feet, looking down the dock to see if he could spot the ship. "Down by the end you said, yes? I'll hurry along. Again, take your time! Don't worry about me!" With a quick nod to the girl he sprinted off down the pier, his sudden energy carrying him effortlessly.
It wasn't long before he was on the ship and in the kitchen. He did just as he said he would, keeping his head down and hands off of anything that wasn't necessary. He was even hesitant to attempt to open any doors should he risk invading her privacy. An odd ship, this one. The whole thing seemed to be designed for training rather than comfortable travel. What an odd girl. He pondered the situation as he worked in the kitchen, flaying the fish and preparing the cuts in a variety of ways. Each fish he cut he would analyze carefully. He felt the texture of the flesh skin and bones, smelled the flesh and even tasted the eye. Each of these fish was familiar but...different. While he was sure they would work with his recipes, he was overflowing with excitement. Oh what wonderful variances will these new fish provide? He hummed loudly as he worked, the joy of these fish overwhelming him. Oh if only his family were here to try these dishes!

The kitchen might have needed a little cleaning before he started work as it had never been touched since it was built about a year ago. The equipment in there was very spartan, but a cook could do something with it.
Back on the dock, Kair was walking down the pier and stopped by the mooring officer. "Well I'm off Sir. Three days is 2100 beli right?" With the nod from the officer, she paid her tax and walked over to the mooring, untying it from the dock and tossed the rope into the water. She'll pull that up later. Walking up the gang plank, she made a note of how to cast off silently, in just one round. The Anchor wasn't an issue, She didn't drop it at docks. The sail was easy enough to unfurl. It was a drop down system instead of a lift up. With one sail catching breeze, they would be nice and slow going out to sea. No jerk, no pull, no sound. Walking up the steps to the helm, she slowly spun the wheel to the left until the rudder was at a 1/2 turn. She then fastened her automatic pilot system (a rope tied to an anchor point next to the wheel looped around one of the spokes of the wheel) and walked down into the galley.
She was surprised to see him hard at work with fish. She was at least excited for this part. It had been so long since she had something cooked for her. With her budget and the purse snatchers she had brought in, she was able to survive off meat buns and small handheld foods prepared in mass quantities. |

Yoizuki was far too busy in the kitchen to notice the slight movements of their setting sail. The excitement of preparing this meal was more than enough of a distraction. He continued to prepare the fish in a variety of ways. One pot of bubbling stew, one pan sizzling with fillets, one whole fish roasting in the oven and another raw cut spread out in front of him. He looked up, the sound of footsteps catching his ear and stealing his attention. The swaying of the ship was easy to ignore, the presence of another person while on someone else's ship demanded his attention. "Ah! There you are! Do you have any rice? Preferably short grain. Sticky. Oh! And seaweed would be fantastic. If you don't though that's fine. If we can't have sushi we can just have sashimi. Something nice and light to start the meal. I also have some stew, a roast... Oh dear!" He spun around to the pan of sizzling fish, giving them a quick flip before resuming his rambling. "I never even asked what you liked! Do you have a special way you like your fish prepared? A brine!" He snapped his fingers at the sudden realization, reaching up into the cabinets to pull out another pot.
The aroma in the room was enough to make a person's mouth water. It was soft and savory, hints of citrus and dried herbs accenting the light meatiness of the fish. "Unfortunately I don't have any vegetables, so it looks like it will be fish only. So I'm preparing them in as many ways as possible! there should be a good variety, still. I hope you enjoy it. It will be some time though. But different portions will take different amounts of time to prepare. Ah! I'll serve it in courses! It won't be as well organized as if I had planned this pout, but it will allow you to eat everything nice and fresh!" As he spoke he moved around the kitchen with precision, the gentle swaying of the ocean not seeming to slow him down. "Now, what was it that you said you wanted?" He stopped what he was doing and looked at Kari with a smile, long fingered hands resting on the counter in a moment of peace. Directly contrasting the controlled franticness that was his cooking.

It was a bit of a relief to see that he was so caught up in cooking he didn't notice her taking off. He asked about rice and kept on rambling. She just walked over to the cabinet and revealed a 25 lb bag of short grain rice, still unopened. Next to it was a stack of nori (seaweed) sheets. She was savoring the sceane even more than the smell in the air. It was like he was in his own play ground. Her eyes watched the way he moved and his thoughts verbalized set into motion. Each and every action told her something to his future potential. He could be great with enough training. When he finally stopped talking and wanted a reminder of what she wanted she just chuckled. "Oh I was just coming in to get the table. It's a nice sunny day, when it is ready, how about we eat at the helm?"
Without another word or gesture she picked up two chairs and a small folding table and carried them out of the galley and up the single set of stairs to the helm. They were straight enough now. She opened the chairs near the railing and set the table up in front of the wheel. She then turned the wheel just enough to release the rope as let it slide off and spun it to bring the vessel straight. She then stayed at the wheel, whistling as she kept her vessel going forward. Next stop Shimotsuki Village. |

Smile faltered as she neglected to answer his request, nodding slowly as she revealed the ingredients to him. "Ah, thank you." Measuring out a few cups of rice he set that in a pot of water to boil, nodding and humming as he did so. It was a shame she didn't want to have any input on the meal. But alas it would have to wait. As would the sushi! The rice was going to be some time before it was ready, meaning they would have to have sushi AND sashimi. It was a good thing he caught so many different fish or this would turn into a one note meal! He laughed softly at her suggestion, wagging a finger at the girl in a playful fashion. "Ah, yes it is! That sounds lovely! The first course should be ready soon, so be ready!"
Turning his attention back to the raw fish spread out before him he went to work on it. Most of the work was already done, with just a few finishing touches left before it was complete. Reaching into his bag he pulled out a bottle of soy sauce, which he then opened up and took a good long sniff of it's contents. Pouring a bit into a small shot glass he dug up, he then placed his thumb over the mouth and drizzled a bit over the sashimi slices. Afterwards he then reached for a small bottle of sesame seeds, sprinkling a thin layer of them over the top. After wiping the plate off with a towel he held it up to eye level, a gleeful smile on his face. Hopefully she would enjoy this.
With the first course in one hand and the soy sauce in the other, he made his way out of the galley and into the open air. "The first course is ready! It's a..." He trailed off as he spoke, the sudden realization of his situation taking the words away from him. Initially he was searching for the girl. But instead what he found filled him with terror. "M-ma'am? MA'AM!" He sprinted as fast as his legs could carry them, rushing to the side of the ship where the island was visible. Loguetown was drifting away... "Ma'am! I think we set sail! Quickly! We must head back!"

As he voiced his concerns about the leaving island, Kari just nodded silently. As she spun the wheel, there was a slight shift in the boat. The turn was actually away from the island a bit more. Spinning the wheel back to center, she just held it in place, moving with the feel of the rudder. "Very observant. We will come back to the island after an errand in Shimitsuki Village. I was heading to my ship to head to set sail anyways. If I stayed another hour, I would have had to pay another day's taxes for the port."
The breeze was decent for sailing. Not to rough, The waves were no where near the railing. She could stand to have this type of weather all of her life. "Did you have something you needed to do there this week? If not I could really use your talents on this hunt. Plus you owe me for my skirt." |

Shoulders drooped as she explained the situation to him, the flare in his eyes fading and his lips curving into a frown. This was really going to put a damper onto the meal. Realistically, he could have simply flown back to the island and gotten on with his life. But it was true. He did owe her. And he didn't want to leave her meal unfinished. And so much fish! He couldn't leave all that fish behind. With a defeated sigh he made his way to the helm, once excited movements now weighed down by defeat. He couldn't help but ponder her curious words. His talents? Did she mean cooking? Did she need a chef for this hunt of hers? Maybe she needed someone to make particularly tasty bait? Unless...she was a bounty hunter? Did she know he was one as well? A hand absentmindedly moved to the hilt of the dagger hanging from his left hip. Perhaps he needed to find someplace to hid his weaponry so he wasn't so obvious. It wasn't as if she could have heard of him. Oh dear. She saw his devil fruit powers. That must have been it. He really should be more careful about those things...
He stood in the near the table for a moment, watching her silently as he tried to think of proper words. "I-I suppose I will be of any assistance I can. I do owe you, after all. Especially after you were so kind as to let me use your kitchen." He forced a painfully weak smile onto his face as he set the sashimi on the table, taking a step back and letting his arms hang at his sides. "There you are. Sesame and soy sauce...tuna. I-I don't know the actual name of the fish. I should really look into it. It's not toxic or anything! I saw someone selling them in the market. It was...speckled. Most definitely a tuna of some sort. With green fins and very large eyes. Ah, but you'll be seeing those yourself soon enough." He relaxed a bit as he spoke of the fish, his smile slowly turning a bit more genuine. "Please, enjoy. I'm sure the ship can manage on it's own while you have a quick meal." Raising his shot glass of soy sauce to his face he took a deep breath through his nose, inhaling the pungent aroma. Oh how he loved soy sauce. Such a wonderful treat...

Kari listened as he set the food on the table in front fo the wheel. The sun shining bright on the unprotected quarterdeck the helm stood in the center of added to the environment. As she reached through the wheel to get a piece, she popped it in her mouth and chewed lightly, taking in the taste. The smile on her face shined as she enjoyed how it melted. "That would be Morse Tuna. Thier scales go in a specific pattern. You can translate words, sentances, or books off of their scales, depending on the fish. The Val Clan raies them in an off shore net housing. They are only harvested after they reach novel size."
She took another piece and enjoyed it. It was so nice having a home cooked meal, even though this wasn't cooked. Not to mention how he handled himself. As she placed both hands back on the wheel, she leaned turned a bit and looked over at the open seas. She would need help soon. "Nice dagger by the way. How good are you at using it?" |

He perked up considerably as she described the fish to him. He smiled broadly, nodding quickly as she spoke. "Ah! Yes, yes I see! I did find the patterns on the scale to be rather odd! Though the one I caught wasn't too large. Perhaps it was still young..." He pondered over the fish as he watched her eat, smile softening as she enjoyed the meal. It was so nice seeing a young woman enjoy his meals. It brought back such fond memories... With another heavy sigh he put the shot glass to his lips and gulped down it's contents. Shoulders relaxed as the intense flavor filled his mouth and coated the back of his throat. Such a wonderful sauce, even on it's own. After a moment of enjoyment, he turned his gaze to one of the daggers at his side.
"Ah...Good enough, I suppose. I'm actually trained in unarmed combat. But I've adapted those techniques for use with knives. Or daggers. Or whatever short blade, I suppose. Though I prefer my blades to be double edged. With a sharp point. But not too thin as to break if used to parry. A nice thick blade is best. So long as it's still light weight, of course. At a certain point you're just waving around cleavers and that's not..." Lips pursed as he turned back to the girl, head tilting as he watched her man the helm. "So, you want me to fight? What are you hunting? Are you a bounty hunter? What made you think I could fight? Are you really alone on this ship? How was the sashimi?" Oddly enough, the final question was the one he was most curious of. Preparing a new type of fish had so many variables in play. He wanted to know that he was handling it properly. And if she was so well versed in this particular fish she would be the perfect person to ask!

He seemed interested in the fish enough to consider it being before it's time. He then started talking in lenght about his dagger and skills. All she heard though was Blah blah blah. Then he asked her a series of questions. Talkative little kidnapee. She might as well humor him since he was cooking. Stepping out from behind the wheel, she sat on one of the folding chairs and crossed her legs while chowing down on another piece of Sashimi. "In order. Eventually. Idiots. Yes. Everyone can fight, the question all comes to how well trained they are. Yes. And It was ok, because it was young it was a little tart." Licking her finger tips she stretched and kicked her feet up on the railing, folding her arms behind her head. She hadn't been this relaxed in a long time, just perfect before answering an All call Hunt.
Her nose picked up something in the briney sea air. It was smoke. Could it just be dust burning on something that had not heated up in a year? This entire ship needed a good scrubbing down. Maybe at the next port. She could afford two days of dock fees with this task. She then looked over to him. "You have something in the oven?" |

He nodded along as she spoke, slowly pairing the answers to his questions. So he was expected to fight at a certain point...And she was a bounty hunter. As odd as the situation was, this was actually quite an interesting idea. He wasn't very experienced as a bounty hunter, so having a partner would be useful. He could only assume she intended for him to stick around for a bit with that 'eventually' of hers. A quick glance over his shoulder to the rest of the ship helped make a bit more sense of things. The ship was designed for training. Was she planning on turning him into a bounty hunter, assuming he wasn't one already? It must have been his devil fruit. The more things started to make sense the more relaxed he became, head bobbing slowly as he put things together. "I see. I see I see." He was also going to have to make sure to be more careful when selecting those Morse Tuna. Such a sad waste killing that poor fish before it reached it's ideal flavor. Still, it was a good learning experience. Hopefully the rest of his fish would fair better.
Eyes widened as the smell of smoke reached his nose, Kari's words confirming his fears. "Oh no! Nonono!" Long legs kicked off the ground and over the railing, leaping over and dodging around any obstacles as he made a beeline for the kitchen. He entered the room to see it filled with smoke, the fish left on the pan having been badly burned. Without missing a beat Yoizuki extended his arms forward, his hands converting into propellers. They spun quickly enough to blow away the smoke, clearing a path of clean air to the stove so he could turn it off. Once that was done he continued to blow away the smoke until the room had nothing but breathable air. Fortunately the roast in the oven was still in good shape, though if he had spent much more time away from the kitchen it was bound to end up like it's friend. "The roast is fine! No damage to your ship! Just some burnt salmon is all! I'll be right out with the next course!" Such a waste. But at least he didn't cause any damage to her ship. Though he may have to buy her a new skillet after this...
